Kindergarten Hours:
7:55 am - 2:40 pm All-day
7:55 am – 11:15 pm Half-day

Pick-up and Drop-off Procedures:Children line up and are picked on the playground outside the classroom door in the morning. Outside supervision begins 15 minutes before school starts. Children should only arrive after there is supervision on the playground. After school, bus riders will be taken to their bus by a teacher or parent volunteer. “Parent pick-up” students are dismissed at the front doors near the office. Please be sure that the transportation information page is completed and returned as soon as possible. You are also required to inform the teacher of any transportation changes throughout the school year!
Attendance- If your child is ill please call the school’s attendance line at (720) 424-6951.

Label, Label, Label- Many items your child brings to school are identical to other classmates’ items. Please label backpacks, coats, and anything else you do not want lost. Lost and found is located in the hallway near the gym. Also, when sending money to school, please put the money in an envelope marked with your child’s name.

Volunteers and Visitors- Parents, grandparents, and guardians are invited to visit the classroom after an initial adjustment period. We will need volunteers to attend field trips and there will be special family-oriented activities planned throughout the school year. Beginning in September, parents are invited from 8:00 - 8:15 every morning to read with our class. During this time, students warm-up for the day reading from their book bags or electronic books with ipads.

Communication- Watch for a newsletter, notes, and a parent/teacher communication on Friday of each week. These will come home in a Friday Folder. The folders need to be returned to school on Monday or Tuesday of the following week. Homework- There will be weekly homework in Kindergarten. A weekly reading response will be part of required homework each week. These reading responses are parent-child activities to encourage reading and discussing books. Homework will be sent home in Friday Folders and homework is to be returned with the Friday Folder on Monday or Tuesday.

Birthdays- Birthdays are a special time to recognize your child. You are welcome to send a special treat (store bought) on this day. Please make arrangements at least one day in advance.

Field Trips- We will have various field trips scheduled throughout the year. Many of these field trips will be scheduled in the morning for bus purposes and to accommodate our half-day kindergarten students. You will receive advance notice for these excursions as well as payment information for each field trip. Field trip notices will be posted on this site for your reference. We always need parent volunteers to attend our field trips!

Positive Behavior System - Understanding and following classroom and school rules is expected of each student. Classroom rules are posted in the classroom. Students have the opportunity to earn rewards for good behavior and good citizenship. Weekly communications will be included in your child’s Friday Folder.

School Supplies- The school supplies we ask each student to bring are collected and shared as a classroom set. There is no need to label your child's school supplies.

3-pack of colored play dough
1-Liquid hand sanitizer or hand soap
2-reams of copy paper
1-container of antibacterial wipes
1 box of plain colored band aids
Please send the following according to last names:
A-H: 1 Box quart Ziploc bags and napkins
I-O: 1 Box gallon size Ziploc bags and paper plates
Q-Z: 1 box of plastic forks and paper towels

Snacks - We will need snack donations from every family throughout the year. We prefer healthy snacks such as pretzels or crackers as opposed to candy or cookies. We also prefer snacks packaged in bulk rather than items that are wrapped individually. Parents may also choose to donate an annual fee of $12.00 for our classroom snack fund. Kindergarten classes do not eat lunch until 11:45. Snack time will be part of our everyday routine during gross motor time. Please be sure to notify the teacher of any food allergies!
Lunch Procedures -Please be sure that your child has a sack lunch or you have arranged payment or the lunchroom to purchase school lunches. You may pay for lunches online at the website below, as well as view the monthly lunch menu.www.mylunchmoney.com

Keep-Books/Raz-Kids Books: Each student will have an electronic book bag on www.raz-kids.com. If you do not have internet access to read these books from home, keep-books” will be made and sent home each week. These weekly books are part of weekly parent/child literacy homework and each child will be assigned a book according to their reading level. It is not necessary to send these paper books back to the classroom.

Changes in Transportation or Personal Information - It is important to keep the teacher informed about any transportation or information changes throughout the school year. Please give advance notice if a bus route will change or if there is a change in address or phone number. Be sure to complete and return the parent information packet and transportation information page ASAP.

Scholastic Book Orders-See Saw book orders will be sent home every month. Buying books from Scholastic earns classroom points to build our classroom library. You may pay by cash or check. Checks are made to Scholastic.

Reading Logs: Reading Logs: Monthly reading logs are part of kindergarten homework. Please watch for a reading log each month. It is important to ready daily with your child!
